One of the biggest challenges with baking bread in a home oven is providing an adequate heat source from the bottom of the oven. When making pizza it's even more critical to achieve intense heat from the top and bottom to achieve good results. This steel baking plate doubles as a great baking stone for bread as well as providing an ingenious method for producing exceptional pizza.
The pizza method involves thoroughly preheating the stone, as you would for bread, and the turning on your oven's broiler/grill with the plate as close to it as possible to heat the top surface of the plate as much as possible. You load the pizza directly into the stone and place under the grill to achieve intense heat at the start. You can always turn your grill off once you've achieved the desired colour on top while monitoring the bottom of the pizza.
The plate is 40x35cm and 6mm thick, comes pre-seasoned, and includes an aluminium loading peel ideal for loading bread or pizza onto the stone.

This is an excellent product. I have used it several times and prefer it to my pizza stone - it gets very hot and my loaves baked beautifully with great oven spring. It is also easy to clean. The Oven Peel is large, making it convenient to load more than one loaf into the oven at a time.
I simply love my steel baking plate. When I had to pick it up the 1st time it was a bit heavy but now I am used to it. I am new to sourdough baking and this addition to my baking equipment really helped me to achieve the oven spring I was hoping for.
